On Oprah Winfrey’s show The Master Class, the late Dr. Maya Angelou taught me a valuable lesson on how love liberates you. How, might you ask? It covers a multitude of wrongs. It has no boundaries. When you truly love someone, it is through sickness, through disappointment, and through anything that is covered with hate. No matter what happens, I have learned that love will always win, and hate is too big of a burden to carry. Listen as she explains how love liberated her. This amazing lesson is something I will carry with me for a lifetime.
My name is Erica Ponder, and I am the mastermind behind Empowered Expressions! I am a Digital Media Producer based in Houston, Texas. I have written and/or digitally produced for outlets such as FOX 26, ABC13, CW 39, and Houston Style Magazine.
I am a proud alumna of thee Prairie View A&M University, where I graduated with a B.A. in Mass Communication and worked as a News Editor for the university’s newspaper publication. I graduated from Sam Houston State University where I received my M.A. in Digital Media Studies. I am extremely excited to have a web presence that focuses on my work in the digital media industry. It is of great importance that I share my writing, because its simple– I’m absolutely passionate about what I do.
