By: Erica M. Ponder

Get your reading glasses ready, and get your book club together, because Michelle Obama and Penguin Random House Publishing made an exciting announcement Sunday!

The former first lady announced she will be releasing her new memoir Becoming, which will focus on her journey from a little black girl with big dreams growing up in the South Side of Chicago, to the woman who made an incredible impact on the White House and nation.

Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience. I talk about my roots and how a girl from the South Side found her voice. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can't wait to share my story. https://t.co/d7DxEG85NK — Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) February 25, 2018

Mrs. Obama can’t wait to share her unique journey, saying in a tweet that she hopes her journey “inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be.”

According to CNN, the book, which will be available in 24 different languages, is set to be released Nov. 13, 2018. In addition, Queen Michelle will be promoting the memoir on an international tour!

Penguin Random House said the following in a statement:

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it — in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is an unusually intimate reckoning from a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations — and whose story inspires us to do the same.

The company vowed to also donate one million copies in the Obama family’s name to First Book, a Penguin Random House non-profit partner, as well as the Washington, D.C.–based partner for the 2016 White House digital education initiative, Open eBooks. This will be Michelle’s second book after American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America.

This piece of work is bound to be a page-turner and best seller for sure, so set the date!
