Tiffany Haddish is such a lovable person. From her humor to her genuine spirit, she has stolen many of our hearts, but what makes many of us really want to see Tiffany win are the hardships that she’s faced and has openly shared with us.
Haddish is no stranger to the struggle. Before her Girls Trip success, she endured homelessness, abuse, foster care and growing up in a fatherless household, as described in her new book, The Last Black Unicorn. The attention that she is receiving now on her hilarious, outstanding work is like a breath of fresh air, especially for people who may be able to relate to many of the real-life accounts she has publicly expressed.
One of many people that have championed Tiffany during her success is well-known comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. During an appearance at Ellen’s show in December 2017, Haddish told DeGeneres she wanted to formally meet Oprah and start a garden. “She got yard. She got a whole lot of backyard to grow stuff. So, I meet her, right, and then we gonna start, like . . . a co-op, and then the next thing you know, we gonna start our own little booth, and we gonna go to, like, farmers’ markets together and stuff together and it’ll be Tiff and O’s Vegetables,” she said excitingly. Little did we know, Ellen was concocting a major surprise for Tiffany that would eventually come out in her next appearance on the show!
Fast forward to Haddish’s next appearance, and Winfrey was indeed a guest on the Ellen Show, however DeGeneres told Tiffany Miss O left the building after their sit-down. Tiffany reiterated her proposition for “Tiff and O’s Vegetables,” showing just how serious she was about this plan she discussed in her previous visit. What she didn’t know was that Oprah was still in the building, waiting to surprise our favorite funny woman!
Yeaahhh, my eyes were not dry!
After a long hug from Haddish, Oprah told her “You are so, so, so good,” and with tears in her eyes, Tiffany responded with “Thank you. You told me that before in a dream.”
I’m so happy for such a beautiful soul, and hopefully “Tiff and O’s Vegetables” can take off, just as the comedian planned. After all, this beautiful, black, self-proclaimed unicorn shows us that impossible is just a word…
Watch as Tiffany, Ellen and Oprah make “Joyful Greens” together!
